Setting up your e-mail in Outlook Express


Before you start to set up your mail client insure you have your UserID and Password for your account. These are in the Welcome letter you received when you signed up for your Hosting Account.

  • Start Outlook Express
  • Go to Tools on the menu bar
  • Select Accounts

  • Internet Accounts box will open
  • Select the Mail Tab
  • Select your default mail account, usually your ISP
  • Click the Properties button

  • Select the Servers Tab
  • Highlight the Outgoing Mail (SMPT) account
  • Right click your mouse
  • Select Copy from the drop menu. You will use this when you set up your outgoing mail on your new account.
  • Close the Properties box

  • Click the Add Button in the Internet Accounts box
  • Select Mail from the menu

  • Type the name of your new account in the text box. It can be anything you like but should be something descriptive of your new account.
  • Click the Next button

  • Enter your new e-mail address in the text box from your account. You should enter: userID@yournewdomain.com
  • Click the Next button

  • Fill in the Incoming mail box with mail.yournewdomain.com
  • Now you are going to use the text you copied earlier. Click on the text box, right click your mouse and select Paste. This allows you to use your existing ISP server to send mail.
  • NOTE: You can alternately use your new domain as your outgoing mail server if you want.  To do so just put mail.yournewdomain.com in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server box.
  • Click the Next Button

  • Type your account name in the text box. Your Account is: UserID from Welcome Letter.
  • Type your Password in the text box. Your Password can be found on your Welcome Letter
  • Select the Remember password check box
  • Click the Next button

  • You’ve done it! Click the Finish button to complete the set up.
  • The Internet Connection Wizard will close and you will see the Internet Accounts box again.

  • Check to make sure your new mail account is listed.
  • Outlook Express will check your default mail account first then will check your new account when you receive mail in your Inbox.
  • Test your mail account out by sending an e-mail to your new e-mail address.

IMPORTANT: If you will be using your new domain to send Outgoing mail you will need to do one more thing...
  • You will need to check the "server requires authentication" check box in your Account Properties, Servers settings.
